Ah yes, it’s that time of year again. Pumpkin spice is in the air and the weather is getting cooler. It’s the best time of year to enjoy fun fall activities with your favorite golden companion! The possibilities are endless and we have created a list of some fun fall ideas for you to enjoy with your golden this year!
It’s the best time of year to visit a pumpkin patch with your pup. A lot of pumpkin patches have great photo opportunities. Some pumpkin patches allow professional photography as well so plan ahead and you can have some special memories made. Make sure dogs are allowed to visit with you before you go!
There are not just pumpkin patches that you can take your pup to, there are also U-pick patches and farms of all kinds for you and your pup to enjoy. From blueberries to peaches to strawberries, you can hand pick fresh produce straight from the source and your golden can help you enjoy your efforts! Just make sure the produce you pick is safe for your golden to eat and that they are in season before you go.
Halloween is also coming up and dressing up your dog can be so fun and memorable. You can even take your golden along for trick or treating! Dog lovers may even give treats to your fur babies.
There are also plenty of local Halloween events with costume contests and prizes. You and your dog can dress up for the occasion. Who doesn’t love matching owner and dog costumes?! You both can strut your stuff for the crowd and hopefully win “Best in Show!”
Of course your pup will appreciate homemade fall inspired doggy treats. There are pumpkin, sweet potato, oat, cinnamon and apple treat recipes! You can also make your golden pumpkin cinnamon puppuccinos or apple pie ice cream!
Going camping or hiking with your golden is a fun outdoors activity. When hiking, make sure you bring poop bags and water for them with a collapsible bowl. There are campgrounds that are dog friendly but they may have a dog number limit so be sure to check out their policies prior to booking. According to BringFido, Disney’s Fort Wilderness welcome guests with up to 2 dogs with no weight limit for a fee of $5/night in campsites, and $50/night in cabins (Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground). When checking in, guests receive a welcome kit filled with doggy goodies (Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground). Proof of your pups vaccinations are required (Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground). Your goldens will also be allowed to ride on the Magical Express airport shuttle and Minnie Van if in a carrier (Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground). Since the weather is cooler, it would be more enjoyable to go outdoors and take your golden baby to the park. Your pup will enjoy chasing after a frisbee or fetching their favorite ball. You could even relax in the shade with a picnic.
An indoor idea during especially chilly nights would be to enjoy bonding with your golden while curling up by a fire with a cozy blanket and some hot cocoa. Snuggling with your golden while giving them belly rubs is always both relaxing and heartwarming.
Whatever you decide to do with your golden this fall, just know that your pup loves to be with you. They don’t care what they’re doing as long as they are doing it by your side! We hope these ideas help you make more memories with your golden this fall. Comment below with more fall time dog activities that you have found fun!
